Volunteer

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with us! Individuals and groups are welcome!

Volunteers with Black Women Build – Baltimore work on-site with our small but mighty team. They work on support projects during all stages of construction. It all needs to get done for our houses to be completed!

Our volunteer schedule can fill up quickly. Please be sure to read through the FAQ’s, and send us a message through the form below and let us know who you are, how you would like to contribute, and what your availability is. Our coordinator will get back to you if we have any openings.

Please be prepared to:

get dirty or heavily stained by dressing in old clothes

work in any temperature by dressing in layers

step onto a work site by wearing work boots or athletic shoes with slip-resistant and puncture-resistant rubber soles

work a full work day by bringing water and food for lunch

Volunteer FAQ’s

What is the age requirement to volunteer on-site?

Everyone must be at least 18 years of age.

What time do I need to arrive?

Our work day is 9-5. Volunteers are expected to arrive no later than 8:45.

What should I wear to volunteer?

Closed shoes, both around your toes and heels, are required at all times. Please wear clothing that you won’t mind taking home covered in some dirt or paint. This Baltimore weather can change in an instant so dress in layers.

Are volunteers provided lunch?

No, we encourage individuals to bring a packed lunch. For all volunteers, we recommend eating breakfast before you arrive at the site. Around 12:30 am, we break for a 30 minute lunch.

Do I need to have prior experience?

Nope! Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome.

What kind of commitment do we ask of our volunteers?

Black Women Build – Baltimore offers volunteer opportunities with various levels of commitment, from as little as one day to more long-term commitments. Let us know your preference and we will work with you to find something that feels right for both of us.

What days can I volunteer?

We are updating our volunteer calendar now, please check back often.
