Black Women Build – Baltimore is looking for interns!

Our internship cycle lasts 3 months and is a great way to get better acquainted with the building trades. These internships can also be an avenue for additional opportunity with Black Women Build – Baltimore.

Building trades experience is NOT required for any the roles listed below, but we *are looking for someone* who is passionate about the same things we are – black women, building, houses, community, and justice.

Materials Mgr

Materials procurement and stocking – Approximately 5-10 hours a week

Duties – you must be able or willing to perform the following tasks

Differentiate/learn types of materials

Organize/keep materials tidy, restock

Procure materials from various vendors

Requirements


Must live in the Baltimore area


Must have license; know how to drive; and/or have vehicle (if you know how to drive a stick shift, even better!)


Must be able to lift 60 pounds (use your legs!)

Social Media and Communications Coordinator

This is generalist role with SM and correspondence/communication responsibilities – Approximately 5-10 hours a week

Duties – you must be able or willing to perform the following tasks

Post to social media regularly/as asked (IG and Facebook, and maybe Twitter can co-post)

Check social media accounts regularly

Send general responses as necessary

Communicate with BWB-B admin when more specific responses are needed

Write monthly newsletter

Answer general newsletter responses and customer service emails

Forward emails to/communicate with BWB-B admin when more specific responses are needed

Requirements


Must live in the Baltimore area


Must have own device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) with regular access to data or WiFi


Strong verbal and written communication skills


Comfortable using various social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)

WordPress tech support

Basic maintenance as needed – Approximately 4-10 hours a month

Duties – you must be familiar with all these processes

Create WP posts for the news blog

Make minor page edits as needed

Be available for minor tech support for Admin (as needed)

Troubleshoot C7 form issues – functionality + security

Manage WP, Theme and Plugin updates as needed

Requirements


Must live in the Baltimore area


Must have own computer (desktop or laptop) with regular access to Internet


Basic HTML/CSS understanding


Must have own device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) with regular access to data or WiFi


Bonus – familiarity with cpanel
