Our internship cycle lasts 3 months and is a great way to get better acquainted with the building trades. We also have openings for Social Media and WordPress support.

General Volunteering FAQ’s

What is the age requirement to volunteer on the construction site?

Everyone on the construction site must be at least 18 years of age.

What time do I need to arrive on the construction site?

Our construction sites open at 8:15. Volunteers are expected to arrive no later than 8:30.

What should I wear to volunteer?

Closed shoes, both around your toes and heels, are required at all times. Please wear clothing that you won’t mind taking home covered in some dirt or paint. This Baltimore weather can change in an instant so dress in layers.

Are volunteers provided lunch?

No, we encourage individuals to bring a packed lunch. For all volunteers, we recommend eating breakfast before you arrive at the site. Around 11:30 am, we break for a 30 minute lunch.

Do I need to have prior construction experience?

Nope! Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome. We encourage those with specialized construction skills to let us know in their volunteer forms so that we can schedule you for when these skills are most needed.

What kind of commitment do we ask of our volunteers?

Black Women Build – Baltimore offers volunteer opportunities with various levels of commitment, from as little as one day to more long-term commitments. Let us know your preference and we will work with you to find something that feels right for both of us.

What days can I volunteer?

At the moment, opportunities are available on Fridays and Saturdays.
