HOMEBUYER EDUCATION RESOURCES

Program info-sessions, free financial literacy education, related special events, and the Home Buyer Education(HBE) classes required for program eligibility and the Baltimore Homeownership Incentive Program, B-Hip. We have listed three organizations we work with most frequently, but there are other organizations offering HBE classes. You can find a comprehensive list on the Live Baltimore website.

PLEASE NOTE HBE class certificates are only valid for one year. You must have a current certificate to qualify for incentives when you apply for your mortgage.

Join author, educator, real estate broker, and strategist Dr. Lisa Hoover, and Tonika Garibaldi, Program Manager with Black Women Build, for a conversation about the deeper truths behind our financial identities.

Centered around Dr. Hoover’s new book It Was Never Just About the Numbers, we’ll engage with the systems, habits, and silence that have shaped our relationships with money, and consider how reclaiming our financial power begins with knowledge, mindset, and strategy. And we’ll hear about how Black Women Build – Baltimore transforms these very conversations into home ownership and wealth-building locally.

SAVING ETTING STREET

Join us for another community screening+discussion of Saving Etting Street at the The Parkway Theatre.

If you missed it the first time, this riveting documentary by filmmakers Dena Fisher and Amy Scott follows carpenter Shelley Halstead as she trains three young Black women in carpentry, electrical work, and plumbing. With the support and cheers of longtime residents, they transform a block of abandoned Baltimore row houses into homes for Black women first-time homeowners—demonstrating the power of skill-building, community, and collective investment in the future of our neighborhoods.
